Viennale 2026

Viennale continues in Vienna from October 22 to November 3, with international cinema shown across the Austrian capital. Its programme gives audiences a route into independent filmmaking, retrospectives and films outside mainstream theatrical releases. The festival remains active throughout this research week, including the weekend.

The daily programme, filmmaker interviews and Austrian criticism offer complementary ways to follow the festival. Compare the selection’s different strands rather than treating every screening as a premiere. Interviews and public discussions can be followed through festival and local media channels, while access to the films themselves depends on screening arrangements and individual distribution rights.
