Nelson Arts Festival 2026

Nelson Arts Festival opens on October 22 and continues until November 1 in Whakatū Nelson and the surrounding region. The programme brings together theatre, music, storytelling, comedy and other arts experiences, creating a substantial cultural focus for the northern South Island.

Festival announcements can be compared with local arts coverage and artists’ own accounts, giving remote audiences context for the region’s creative work. Individual events have different venues, times and accessibility provisions, so the overall dates should not substitute for a session booking. Readers should also check programme updates before attending, since changes to touring productions can affect an otherwise confirmed festival.
