Ontario municipal and school board elections 2026

Ontario holds municipal council and school board elections on October 26. Residents across the Canadian province choose local representatives responsible for services and decisions that directly affect their communities, from municipal spending to education governance. The elections take place in separate municipalities rather than as a single province-wide race for premier.

Municipal election offices and local newsrooms are the most useful sources for candidate lists, voting access and results. Province-wide summaries can reveal broader patterns, but they should not replace reporting on individual communities. A multi-source view is particularly useful for comparing how housing, transit and school issues differ between large cities and smaller municipalities.

Same-day event. Province-wide umbrella entry; Toronto is covered separately as a distinct city election.
