About this channel
The Musical Box is the first Argentine radio program devoted to symphonic and progressive rock, being thus the pioneer in broadcasting what’s been called ‘the classical music of this millenium’.
The Musical Box: an avant-garde radio show not only because it’s a pioneer in telling the audience what musicians say in their lyrics (more than 500 songs translated) but also because it makes listeners ‘relive’ epic and fantastic texts which accompany the music of each program.
It has been awarded four prizes in four consecutive years by the FM Palermo: “Best Program”, “Best Music Program”; “Best Design Production” and “Best Hosting”, apart from having been mentioned and used as a source by the media.
Ricardo ‘Lancelot’ Medina (Design Producer) and Marcelo ‘Gawain’ Ghio have been on the air since June 1994 nonstop and have created an unmistakable style and go on with their commitment to quality, a commitment shared by many of these musicians and by an IMMENSE MINORITY of listeners who choose Elaborate Rock.
Along these years, TMB has been trying to make progressive and symphonic rock better known through exclusive interviews to different artists (Rick Wakeman, Tony Banks, John Wetton, Keith Emerson, Pendragon, Arena, Steve Hackett, Peter Hammill, Fish, Ian Anderson, among others), many of whom were present in our radio program. TMB has presented exclusive material from the BBC, Westwood One and King Biscuit – some of this material has not been edited yet – and it has also presented some albums before their release such as Yes, King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Genesis, Pendragon, Marillion, Hackett, Fish among others. And it has witnessed and actively participated in the coming of some of these musicians to Argentina.
But TMB is not just radio. Since our first program, we’ve done some live presentations together with the main Argentine bands in different places in Buenos Aires, in shows especially prepared for such occasions. We’ve organized the ‘First Vinyl Exhibition’ entirely directed at symphonic and progressive rock; we’ve edited TMB Mag in which interviews, translated lyrics, discography and chronology of ‘our’ artists are published.
All in all, we, the people in TMB, are determined to go on making progress because there’s still much to do for ‘the classical music of this millenium’
